A sweet life...

Hi friends,

I wanted to share a project that is up today on The GCD Studios blog using the brand new Splendor collection.

I wanted to create a project this month inspired by fashion. I was inspired by this link by Elle Magazine. In their current fashion trend report for Spring 2012 they noted that one of the trends that is hot right now is birds.
I chose to implement this on my project by adding feathers to my layout.

A Sweet Life layout:

I love the look. The feathers add texture to the layout, but don't take away from the design. Another fun technique that I used on this page, is that I created my own flags by cutting banner shapes out of yummy Splendor papers and then gluing them down to bamboo sticks (that I found in my kitchen pantry), so fun!

Here is a close up:

Have you ever created a project inspired by fashion?

a litte bit of news..

Hi friends,
I hope that you are all having a good week. I wanted to take a moment and share a little bit of good news with my Australia/New Zealand friends. Ruby Rock-it is having a DT call for Australian and New Zealand Design Team members. They are a great company so if you live in the area or you know someone that does this is a great opportunity. You can read the full announcement here.

I haven't been posting a lot this month, my son is home off-track. So I have been spending my days with him (mostly playing Monopoly). I have a new project that will be up on my blog tomorrow for GCD studios, so be sure to stop by.

rocking Wednesday with some cards

Hi Friends,
I hope that you are all enjoying some nice warm spring weather in your area. We had a couple of days of warm sunny weather last week and now it is raining non stop. I'm hoping for a sunny day again soon.
I have a couple of themed cards that I made last week that I would like to share with you using the Paper Doll line and Paper Boy line from Ruby Rock-it designs.

Girl's just wanna have fun card:

I used pattern paper, and banners from their Paper Doll collection and embossed cardstock from their Bella! collection. I just love their embossed cardstock so much. To show off the pattern I sanded it slightly with a piece of sandpaper from my husbands workshop. Who says that tools aren't for crafting? lol.

Next up I have a boy's themed card using their Paper Boy collection.

Let's Roll card:

I added a strip of canvas and I used the round 25 shape studio tool from Epiphany Crafts to make the round bubblecap. I just love that it fits perfectly into bottlecaps!

That's it for today, thanks for letting me share!

leaving on a train...but she'll be back again...

Another fun crafting weekend went by fast. My good friend Suzy West came to stay with me over the past few days. Suzy lives about 2 hours away and takes the train to come visit me about once a month. I can say that I am a pretty lucky gal to have her in my life and cherish all the fun times that we have together. On Tuesday we went out to lunch with our good friend Tricia Wilson. Here is a photo of the 3 of us at Chik fil a (Suzy's favorite spot):

so fun! We even hugged the Chik fil a cow :)

One thing that I love about Suzy's visits is that we always get tons of projects done.
I haven't finished photographing these yet and we have had gloomy windy weather, so I am just going to share a sneak of what I created using Ruby Rock-it papers.

from the paper doll collection:

from the Nostalgia collection:

That's it for now, I am sad that I had to drop off my dear friend at the train station today, but I know that she will be back again soon. She never stays away very long. hehe
I will post full photos of my projects as soon as the weather brightens up a bit.
Thanks for stopping by!

rockin' it with August Moon and a DT call!

Hi friends,
I have a project up today on the Ruby Rock-it blog using the brand new August Moon range that was released at CHA. This collection has lots of pale pinks, creams, and blues, and yummy silver glitter cardstock. Perfect for elegant occasions and projects. I thought that I would add in some dark grey cardstock to really make the colors pop.

Everyday soul sisters layout:

for the background paper, I used a dark grey embossed cardstock from our Bella! collection, and I rubbed sandpaper over the embossed pattern to really make the texture stand out.

I just love this pink mini pom pom trim that is part of the August Moon collection. So, what do you think of Ruby Rock-it's products? Pretty sweet, huh? Ruby Rock-it designs just announced this week that they are adding to our team, and are currently
looking for DT members that are based out of Australia, and New Zealand. So, I wanted to link up some info for all my Australia and New Zealand friends, the call can be viewed here.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by today. Have a rockin' week!
